Was prescribed Yaz but ended up with a cheep copycat (Gianvi)?

I was prescribed Yaz by my OBGYN which I had been taking very happily and with no ill effects for several years. I go to pick up my prescription today and suddenly I am given this new generic drug Gianvi. What's the deal and is it even going to be as effective as much much loved Yaz which prevented acne and helped control my PMDD?
